About 9,800 suspects, who were arrested under the State of Emergency, will be released next Wednesday, said the Command Post established to oversee the implementation of the nationwide State of Emergency.

Siraj Fegessa, Secretariat of the Command Post and Minister of Defense, told journalists today that the detainees, who will be freed next week, were given training. However, 2,449 suspects will face justice, the Minister said.

According to Siraj, the Command Post has managed to detain 19 groups of mobsters and it has been hunting those who participated in the violence but escaped arrest in the first round. He said 12,500 suspected were arrested in the second round. These detainees will be released after receiving training or will face justice.

The Minister indicated that the Command Post has already identified 4, 000 suspects who will join the newly established Senkele training center in west Shoa zone, Oromia Regional State.

The remaining detainees will be released after receiving training at centers that were used to train the first round detainees.

Speaking on the gains made after the implementation of the State of Emergency, the Minister said as a result of the joint efforts of the Command Post and the public, peace and stability have been restored in the country.

Commenting on mobile internet service, the Minister said the country has put in place a system which enables to control those who commit acts of violence.

Ethiopia declared a State of Emergency last October following the unrest occurred in some parts of the country.

It was declared because the situation posed a threat against the people of the country.
